Community Health Volunteers Engaged and Supported

Community health is a vital aspect of our approach to health and nutrition. We recognize the interconnectedness of various factors, and prioritizes community health interventions that target vulnerable groups.
We place great importance on vaccination and immunization and thus recognize the critical role that vaccines play in preventing diseases and reducing mortality rates. As such, for decades, IDC has been committed to ensuring access to essential medicines and vaccines for all community members living in poverty and vulnerability—especially for children under five, pregnant and lactating mothers, and antiretroviral drugs for immuno-compromised individuals.
Maternal health is another area where we aim to reduce infant mortality and eliminate pregnancy-related causes of death. To achieve this, we promote health facility-based deliveries and discourage the use of traditional birth attendants as an alternative to maternal care. The organization also encourages pregnant women to seek antenatal care and to attend at least four ANC visits prior to child delivery. We support EmOC (Emergency Obstetric Care) and EmNOC (Emergency Newborn Obstetric Care) services to ensure that women and newborns receive timely and appropriate care during emergencies. These services can save lives and promote maternal and newborn health.
Through our holistic approach to community health, over the years, we have made significant strides in reducing under-five mortality rates and neonatal deaths. By prioritizing marginalized groups and promoting social justice, we have created and continue to create healthier and more equitable communities.
Moreover, we recognize the importance of health education and empowering communities to take charge of their health. We design and provide health education programs that focus on disease prevention, healthy behaviors, and early childhood development. Through these programs, IDC has created a culture of health and wellness that will sustainably benefit communities for years to come.
Our approach to community health is grounded in self-reliance and sustainability. By prioritizing vaccination and immunization, maternal health, reducing infant mortality, and promoting health education, we are making a significant impact on the health and wellbeing of the community. Through its community-based approach, IDC is empowering individuals to take control of their health and creating a brighter future for all.
