Formal education plays a crucial role in equipping learners with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in the modern world. IDC’s approach to education recognizes this fact and seeks to support learners to obtain comprehensive education that prepares them for the challenges of the 21st century.
One of the key components of our formal education program is early grade reading assessments. These assessments help identify learners who may be struggling with reading and provide them with the support they need to improve their reading skills. In addition to reading, our education program also focuses on science, technology, English, and maths, providing learners with a well-rounded education that prepares them for the workforce in the future.
Our school feeding program provides nutritious meals to children in need, ensuring they have the energy and focus necessary to succeed in the classroom. This program not only supports children’s health and wellbeing but also promotes regular school attendance and academic achievement—especially completion of primary school.
We are committed to improving the learning environment for learners in their formal education program. This includes support for classroom renovation and construction in exceptional circumstances. By providing a safe and comfortable learning environment, learners are better able to focus on their studies and achieve their full potential.
We also recognize the importance of providing support to children living in poverty and vulnerability. This includes providing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) scholarships to students who may not otherwise have access to tertiary education due to financial constraints and other unavoidable circumstances. We provide support to orphans and child-headed households, sponsoring nursing courses and providing support to orphans in primary and secondary schools.
Through our formal education program, we are helping to build a better future for learners and their communities. By providing a comprehensive education that prepares learners for the challenges of the 21st century, we are helping to create a world of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
